Fricking government out of control –

Two-pole endorsement to be suspended
for four days at Wind River, Drano Lake
Action: Wind River and Drano Lake anglers will be limited to one pole each during the upcoming sturgeon retention season in Bonneville Pool
Species affected:   All species
Effective dates: June 15, 16, 22, and 23, 2012
Location:
•   Wind River from the mouth (boundary line markers) to the Burlington Northern Railroad Bridge.
•   Drano Lake downstream of markers on point of land downstream and across from Little White Salmon National Fish Hatchery and upstream of the Hwy. 14 Bridge.
Other information: Daily limit is 1 sturgeon, minimum size 38" fork length and 54" fork length.  Statewide annual limit is 5 fish.  Under permanent rules, only one single-point barbless hook is allowed when fishing for sturgeon.
Anglers with a two-pole endorsement may fish with two poles on all other days in June.
Reason for action: The Washington and Oregon Departments of Fish and Wildlife adopted the Bonneville Pool sturgeon retention summer fishery guidelines. The upcoming season includes all tributaries. A balance of 1,060 fish remains within this year's sturgeon guideline for Bonneville Pool and its tributaries. To help ensure that the overall catch remains within the guideline, this emergency regulation change makes the number of rods allowed per angler at Wind River and Drano Lake consistent with the adjacent mainstem Columbia

I dont see the issue. They tell you why they are doing it. Seems pretty straightforward to me. They never intended 2 poles for sturgeon.

I am sure it is not thier intention, but the more rules there are, the more well intentioned fisherman can be fined if they aren't up to date on the latest revisions to the regulations (let alone being able to decipher what is in the published regulations to begin with).

:yeah:

This two pole permit they are issusing on the Columbia during salmon season is basically a one year test to see the impact it has.  Hopefully people will understand that and not complain too much, or it will go by the wayside for all of us.  If they are willing to let us try it, I will glady let them alter it at times when they feel it necessary. :twocents:

Definitely for more tickets, coming out with "addendums" will get them more revenue for sure :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:

Gotta agree with "WDFW Hates Me" and "MtMuley", doesn't seem like that big of a deal. Seems like some people get mad no matter what WDFW does. I understand that the WDFW screws up a lot of things, but this seems pretty minor.

I would like them to credit my account .58 cents please. That's for the 4 days of cancelled endorsement.
Politicians like Jay Inslee are the reason we have the 2nd Amendment

Honestly i see it as a non issue. I guess i dont see it as an issue because i agree with it. If someone tells me i can't do something and they give me a reason that i can agree with i wont do it. If someone just tells me not to do it, i will probably do it anyways. But as long as there is good reason not to i won't.

Isn't the catch limit going to stay the same?
Friend: "Are you free tonight?"
Me:  (Gazing into the distance as a bald eagle screeches)  "I'm always free"

I totally agree with the change, I just think they should have made it part of the original rule. Those hogs in the hole will get hammered enough with one pole.  :twocents:

I thought the Columbia River was off limits for the two pole endorsement?  I just read the regs and it says that it is not included (online).  What gives?

Can a guy use two poles below Bonneville down to Astoria?

There's a few stretches where they are trying the two pole gig for a year on the Columbia.

Whats the difference- one pole, two poles, you can only punch 1 a day. 5 total for the year. Sounds like a Steaming Pile to me.
